Neft Daslari, also known as the Oil Rocks, is a unique offshore settlement located in the Caspian Sea, administratively part of the Baku region in Azerbaijan. Built on a foundation of metal trestles and flyovers, it is surrounded by the vast waters of the sea rather than traditional rural landscapes, situated approximately 55 kilometers from the coast of the Absheron Peninsula.
Due to its location in the middle of the sea, there is no direct agriculture within the settlement itself. However, the surrounding Baku region is characterized by an arid climate where the Absheron Peninsula hosts specialized farming, including greenhouse vegetable production, viticulture, and the cultivation of drought-resistant crops such as olives, figs, and almonds.
For agricultural specialists and workers, Neft Daslari represents an industrial environment where food supplies are brought in from the mainland. Employment for agronomists is concentrated in the coastal areas of the Baku region, where there is a demand for experts in saline soil management, modern irrigation systems, and protected-ground horticulture to support the growing urban and industrial population.
