About agriculture in Kučiće

Kučiće is a settlement located in the hinterland of Omiš, within the Split-Dalmatia County of Croatia. It is situated near the spectacular canyon of the Cetina River, surrounded by a blend of rugged karst hills and fertile pockets of land. The landscape is characteristic of the Dalmatian Zagora, featuring traditional stone architecture and terraced fields that harmonize with the natural contours of the hilly terrain.

Agriculture in the Kučiće area is shaped by its Mediterranean climate and the life-giving proximity of the Cetina River. Olive groves and vineyards are the primary features of the rural economy, producing high-quality olive oil and traditional local wine varieties on the sun-drenched slopes. In the more level, fertile areas closer to the water, farmers cultivate a variety of vegetables, figs, and cherries. Small-scale livestock farming, particularly sheep and poultry, remains a common sight in this traditional rural community.

For farm workers and agronomists, Kučiće offers seasonal opportunities primarily focused on the olive and grape harvests during the autumn months. There is also consistent demand for labor during the spring planting season and the summer fruit-picking cycles. Much of the work involves manual techniques due to the terraced nature of the land, though modern irrigation methods are increasingly being adopted. The area provides a peaceful rural working environment while remaining well-connected to the major coastal centers of Central Dalmatia.
