About agriculture in Mulakuddu

Mulakuddu is a census town located in the Bheemunipatnam mandal of the Visakhapatnam district, in the northeastern coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, India. It lies near the Bay of Bengal coast, characterized by humid tropical weather. The surrounding rural landscape consists of flat coastal plains, bordered by the low-lying hills of the Eastern Ghats in the distance. The region is rich with palm trees, coconut groves, and rural villages connected by agricultural pathways.

Rice (paddy) is the staple crop grown extensively in the irrigated fields. The sandy-loam soils and coastal climate also support coconut plantations, cashews, mangoes, and groundnuts. Smallholder farms dominate the landscape, utilizing a combination of monsoons and groundwater or canal irrigation. Livestock farming, particularly water buffaloes and dairy cows for local milk production, as well as small-scale poultry farming, is common.

The region experiences peak labor demand during the planting and harvesting seasons of paddy, which align with the southwest and northeast monsoons (June-July and October-November). Job opportunities exist for farm laborers in sowing, weeding, and harvesting, while agronomists are increasingly needed to assist in soil management, sustainable irrigation, and coastal pest control. Workers should be prepared for high humidity and tropical temperatures, and should expect simple, community-oriented local living conditions.
