About agriculture in Maldhe

Maldhe is a small village located in the Malegaon taluka of the Nashik district, in the northwestern region of Maharashtra, India. The surrounding rural landscape is part of the semi-arid Deccan Plateau, featuring vast plains interspersed with low hills, dry grasslands, and seasonal river streams. The terrain is highly agricultural, presenting scenic views of green and golden fields that depend heavily on seasonal monsoon rains and local irrigation canals.

Agriculture is the primary livelihood in Maldhe, with farming practices tailored to the regional climate. Key crops grown here include onions, for which the Nashik district is nationally renowned, alongside cotton, maize, bajra (pearl millet), and pomegranates. Where irrigation permits, farmers also cultivate sugarcane and oilseeds like soybean, while livestock rearing of dairy cattle and goats provides essential organic manure and additional household income.

For agricultural workers and visiting agronomists, seasonal labor demand peaks during the Kharif sowing in June and July, followed by the harvesting period from October to November, as well as the Rabi winter harvest. Job opportunities include manual harvesting of cotton and onions, crop management, and field maintenance. Agronomists can expect to work on soil health improvement, modern drip irrigation installation, and climate-resilient crop planning within a warm, traditional Maharashtrian rural community.
