About agriculture in Texcala

Texcala is situated in the state of Morelos, south of Mexico City. The area is characterized by a subtropical climate and fertile volcanic soil, often referred to as the land of eternal spring. The landscape is a mix of hilly terrain and open fields, typical of the central Mexican highlands.

Agricultural activities in the surrounding rural area primarily focus on sugarcane and corn production. The region is also highly significant for ornamental plant nurseries and flower cultivation due to the stable year-round temperatures. Livestock farming, including cattle and poultry, is common in the surrounding ranchlands.

For agronomists and farm workers, the region offers diverse opportunities ranging from large-scale sugar plantations to specialized greenhouse work. Seasonal demand peaks during the sugarcane harvest, known locally as the zafra, as well as during the intensive planting periods for vegetables and ornamental species.
