About agriculture in C-41 (Licenciado Carlos A. Madrazo)
Located in the municipality of Huimanguillo in the western part of Tabasco, C-41 is situated within the fertile alluvial plains of the Chontalpa region. The surrounding landscape is defined by its lush tropical greenery, crisscrossed by a network of drainage canals and rivers that characterize this humid lowland area of southeastern Mexico.
The local economy is deeply rooted in intensive agriculture, particularly as part of the historic Plan Chontalpa. Sugarcane is the primary crop, supported by extensive plantations of tropical fruits such as bananas, citrus, and pineapples. Livestock farming, specifically dual-purpose cattle for beef and milk, also plays a significant role in the rural land use surrounding the town.
For agronomists and seasonal laborers, the region offers consistent opportunities throughout the year due to the humid tropical climate. Peak activity often coincides with the sugarcane harvest (zafra) and the peak production cycles of tropical fruits. Workers can find roles in plantation management, harvesting, and basic processing facilities, with a focus on modernizing irrigation and pest control techniques.
