About agriculture in Gornja Bistrica

Gornja Bistrica is a settlement located in the Municipality of Črenšovci in northeastern Slovenia, close to the banks of the Mura River. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the flat, fertile plains of the Prekmurje region, interspersed with lush riverside forests and small patches of woodland that define the border areas.

Agriculture is the backbone of the local economy, with the fertile soil supporting large-scale cultivation of cereals such as maize and wheat. The area is also well-known for its pumpkin production, primarily for the famous Styrian-Prekmurje pumpkin seed oil, as well as oilseed rape and specialized livestock farming including cattle and pigs.

For agronomists and seasonal workers, the region offers opportunities primarily during the spring sowing and autumn harvest seasons. Labor demand is often centered on mechanical operations for field crops and the labor-intensive processing of pumpkins. Workers can expect a traditional rural environment with modern farming machinery and professional agricultural standards.
