About agriculture in Sabiote

Located in the province of Jaén, within the autonomous community of Andalusia, Sabiote is part of the La Loma region. The surrounding landscape is characterized by an endless expanse of olive groves, often referred to as the Sea of Olives, stretching across undulating hills under the bright Spanish sun.

The local economy is almost entirely dependent on olive oil production. The area is home to vast plantations of Picual olives, which are processed in local cooperatives and private mills. Beyond olives, some fields are dedicated to dryland farming of cereals and legumes, but the monoculture of the olive tree defines the agricultural identity of Sabiote.

Agronomists and farm workers will find the highest demand during the olive harvest season, typically from November to January. Opportunities include mechanical harvesting, pruning, and mill operation. Outside the peak season, there is steady work in irrigation management, pest control, and soil conservation within the extensive olive estates.
