About agriculture in Frías

Frías is located in the northern part of the province of Burgos, within the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is situated on a rocky ridge overlooking the Ebro River valley, surrounded by a dramatic landscape of limestone cliffs and fertile riverbanks that define the transition between the plateau and the Cantabrian mountains.

The agriculture in the surrounding area is characterized by a mix of dryland cereal cultivation, such as wheat and barley, and irrigated crops along the Ebro basin. There are also significant fruit orchards, particularly cherries and apples, as well as some sunflower plantations. Livestock farming, primarily sheep and some cattle, remains a traditional and stable component of the local rural economy.

Agronomists and farm workers will find seasonal opportunities mainly during the fruit harvest in early summer and the cereal harvest in late summer. The region offers a professional environment focused on traditional Mediterranean crops and modern livestock management. Workers can expect a rural setting where agricultural practices are closely integrated with the preservation of the historical landscape.
