A strategic partnership has been formed between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Suzuki R&D Centre India, and North East Dairy and Foods Ltd. to establish a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Assam. This facility aims to transform dairy and agricultural waste into sustainable energy and nutrient-rich organic compost, showcasing a model for circular farm economies.

For dairy farmers, the project offers a dual benefit: managing livestock waste efficiently while creating a new revenue stream. Instead of viewing manure solely as a waste management burden, this approach turns it into a feed-in resource for energy production. This is particularly relevant in intensive dairy regions where waste disposal regulations are becoming increasingly stringent.

The byproduct of the biogas process is a high-quality organic fertilizer. For agronomists, this represents a significant opportunity to improve soil health through the return of organic matter.
